The MotoJournal is independent, intentionally built, and funded by @zenmotorcyclemaintenance for the betterment of resources, reflection, maintenance knowledge, and connection across the motorcycle community. We are not sharing rider data, targeting people, selling attention, or building the platform around advertising extraction. This is not a big data conglomerate in motorcycle clothing.
Members fund the system so the system can stay accountable to members.
We are not building this to sell rider data, target people with ads, or bait more screen time.
Brand support may help fund the platform, but sponsors do not receive access to user data, private rider information, location history, or behavioral targeting.
If a brand supports The MotoJournal, the relationship is public, limited, and attached to helping the motorcycle community rather than extracting value from its members.
Supports the growth of The MotoJournal and adds the MotoJournalist verified tag to your profile.
Community supporterAdds the MotoJournalist tag plus the public I support The MotoJournal recognition badge, supporters feed placement, and community thank-you recognition when public recognition is enabled.
Supporters contributing CA$10/month or more can appear in the supporters feed and community recognition banner so the community can thank the people helping fund the system.
The platform is being developed with technical care, founder sustainability, and mental health in mind.
Contributions are recurring monthly charges in Canadian dollars, from CA$5 to CA$500. CA$5/month makes you an official MotoJournalist. CA$10/month or more unlocks optional public supporter recognition. You can change or cancel through Stripe billing after checkout.
I did not create The MotoJournal to harvest data, track users' movements, upsell data packages, target people with content, ads, or bait users for more screen time and engagement.
I built TMJ for the greater good of the motorcycle community and folks that have a shared passion for maintaining themselves as well as their motorcycles. I wanted to house those intentions in one place without some large corporation harvesting, mining, and targeting me with ads and motives.
If a brand becomes involved from a funding perspective, that relationship should be visible and for the good of the community. It should never become access to private user data, location data, personal records, or targeting infrastructure.
Brand funding can be associated with supporting the community, but it does not buy access to the people using it. Private rider information stays private.
The commitment is simple: if support, sponsorship, or recognition enters the product, it should be visible to the community and separated from private user data by design.
I have been involved in building software products for more than 20 years. My intent is to develop this platform slowly and sustainably, both technically and personally, as a founder building this thing.
So that is why I am building it. For myself, and my family and friends first. Ethically and intentionally, with mental health in mind. For People. Not a Business Model. If we can continue to fund the project ourselves, it can remain a beautiful thing for all of us.
